PUMP RENTALS
You may be have been instructed by hospital staff or a lactation consultant to use a "hospital-grade"/multi user pump if your baby is in the NICU, for weight loss and feeding difficulties, or simply to reinforce, reestablish, or increase your milk supply if it is at risk for any reason.
The term “hospital-grade pump” is not recognized by the FDA and there is no consistent definition for this term, so individual companies could mean different things when they label their pumps as hospital-grade. All our rental pumps are FDA-approved as multi-user pumps. All the pumps we rent are appropriate for frequent or “heavy duty” use, reliable enough to initiate, establish and maintain a milk supply, and can be safely used by multiple users .
We carry a variety of hospital-grade, multiuser pumps. They all have different features and benefits. You may choose to rent the same pump you used in the hospital, or choose another one to meet your budget or personal needs. Why Should I Rent a Pump?
High Quality
If your baby is preterm or hospitalized in the first few weeks your pump needs to be powerful, durable, and effective enough to stimulate your hormones to initiate and establish your milk supply.
Efficient
Multi-user pumps typically have varied and customizable suction and speed ranges making milk extraction more comfortable and efficient.
Cost Effective
Multi user pumps are often very expensive. Renting is a much more affordable option, especially if the pump is only needed short term.
How Do I Rent a Pump?
Medela Symphony

Ameda Pearl

Does Flange Size matter?
- YES it really does!
- Most pumps come with a size 24mm flange, the average size nipple is much smaller.
- Pumping should not hurt.
- We recommend scheduling a Professional Flange Fitting Appointment with an IBCLC to determine which flange size and Shape works best for your body.
- It is common and very normal to have different sized and shaped nipples requiring different sized/shaped flanges or flange inserts.
- We have flange inserts available for purchase that are compatible with our 24mm and 25 mm flanges in our pump accessory kits.
- If using a silicone flange insert you may need to add 1-2mm as silicone creates drag on your skin, and you will need to use a lubricant.
- You can use the nipple measuring guide below as a starting point. Measure the tip of the nipple not the base.
- The guide below can be printed out; follow the directions and use the ruler on the bottom right border of the second page to measure with. If you have a ruler or tape measure you can use that instead.
